In order to start smoothly at our faculty (school), and thus to facilitate the beginning of the new phase of student's life, we offer the Academic ON-Boarding Week 25/26 WiSe. The detailed schedule including all introduction events can be found on this website.
The mandatory Academic ON-Boarding Week (06/10 - 10/10) is exclusively in English, and starts on Monday, October 06th, after the OVGU’s Enrollment Celebration in the Opera House, at 14:00 in building 22 lecture hall H2. The Faculty's Dean of Research Affairs and the Study Program Director for IBE, Prof. Dr. Andreas Knabe will welcome all new faculty students on campus and in-person.

AOM Awards for Ida-Anna Thiele and Christopher Schlägel
This year’s Academy of Management Annual Meeting in Copenhagen – with far more than 13,000 participants the largest gathering of its kind worldwide – brought several notable achievements for the Chair of Behavioral International Management. Firstly, it should be mentioned that both Ida-Anna Thiele, M. Sc., and Prof. Christopher Schlägel were each awarded a Best Reviewer Award from the International Management Division. This recognition is granted to only the top five percent of reviewers who contribute to the quality of the conference through exceptionally constructive reviews.
In addition, doctoral researcher Ida-Anna Thiele was successful with two subprojects of her upcoming dissertation, both of which were accepted into doctoral workshops in the fields of International Management and Strategic Management. There, she had the opportunity to present her research and engage in intensive discussions with renowned professors. She also received a travel grant.
Prof. Schlägel contributed to the main conference program with the presentation of a current research paper. During the AOM 2025, the Journal of World Business (VHB A-ranked) honored him with the Best Reviewer Award 2024 for his outstanding review work in the past year. Since mid-2025, Prof. Schlägel has additionally been serving as an Associate Editor for the International Journal of Human Resource Management (VHB A-ranked).

"Most Inspirational Paper Award" for Ida-Anna Thiele and Christopher Schlägel
At the annual conference of the European Academy of Management (EURAM 2025) in Florence, the research paper authored by Ida-Anna Thiele, M. Sc., and Prof. Christopher Schlägel, both members of the Chair of Behavioral International Management, was honored with the Most Inspirational Paper Award in the Strategic Management Track “Artificial Intelligence, Data, and Digital Ecosystems.” Congrats from the Faculty! The paper, titled “Disentangling the Information Technology Capability-Firm Performance Relationship: A Meta-Analysis,” was selected by the reviewers based on its originality, relevance, theoretical and methodological accuracy, and clarity.

Weimann/Bershadskyy on DFG Mission: "Lying Impossible"
Prof. Joachim Weimann and Dr. Dmitri Bershadskyy are exploring this question in a newly approved research project funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG). In collaboration with engineers from the Neuroinformation team, they are using a sophisticated AI system designed to detect lies based on facial data.
Over the next three years, the researchers will investigate how effectively the AI can identify deception compared to humans—and whether people trust and rely on the AI’s assessments in negotiation settings. Could such technology ultimately lead to a society without lies? And is that even desirable? Or will people simply become better at lying? What role does stress play in all of this?
We are eager to see the insights this exciting project will bring (funding volume: approx. EUR 300,000; duration: three years). We warmly congratulate Prof. Weimann and Dr. Bershadskyy on this achievement and are sincerely—yes, truthfully—delighted about another DFG-funded project at our Faculty!
