On 26 November 2025, Prof. Andreas Knabe was invited as a guest speaker to the Finance Expert Discussion hosted by the Court of Auditors of Saxony-Anhalt. Following his introductory lecture on “The Debt Brake and Special Funds: How Can Sustainable Fiscal Policy Succeed?”, a lively professional discussion on the topic ensued.

1st Magdeburg-Braunschweig Economics Workshop
On Friday, November 28, 2025, economists from the Center of Evidence-based Policy Analysis (CEPA) at OVGU Magdeburg and from the Institute of Economics at Technische Universität Braunschweig met for a joint academic workshop. In addition to getting to know each other and exchanging ideas, the programme focused on presentations and discussions of current research projects from both institutions. The range of topics was broad, spanning from health economics laboratory experiments and analyses of the relationship between money and happiness to the importance of female role models in primary school for women’s later labor market participation.
Omar Martin Fieles-Ahmad and Mohamad Alhussein Saoud received the Best Presentation Awards. The workshop was a great success and is planned to continue next year in Braunschweig.
